US Chess Voting Member Registration

Notice: In order to vote in the 2020 US Chess Executive Board election, eligible members need to have registered by 11:59:59 PM Central Time on May 1, 2020. You can still register to vote in future US Chess elections, but the deadline for registering to vote in the 2020 election has passed.

Due to a change in the Bylaws made by the Delegates in 2010, effective with the 2011 Executive Board election, voting members will have to be registered in order to be eligible to vote. Only registered eligible voting members will be sent a ballot.

In order to be qualified to register as a US Chess Voting Member, you must be a current US Chess member who will be 16 or older on June 30th of the upcoming election cycle. (Three month trial memberships are not eligible to vote.)

You must register as a voting member by May 1st of an election year in order to be eligible to vote in that year's election, and you must also be a current US Chess member for the entire day on May 5th.

Providing that your US Chess membership remains current, you will only need to register once. However, your voter registration will lapse if your US Chess membership lapses for more than 28 days, and you will need to re-register as a voting member again after you rejoin US Chess. (And you must re-register by May 1st of an election year to be eligible for that year's election.)

You will need to enter your Member ID and either your PIN or your birthdate in order to confirm your identity. Your PIN is a five digit number (no letters and any leading zero is required) and can be found on the back cover of Chess Life or the TLA Newsletter. You can also received your PIN in email at
